Janet has worked with over 4000 dogs from more than 125 breeds, including such popular breeds as German Shepherd, Labrador Retriever, and Cocker Spaniel, less well-known breeds such as Bull Mastiff and English Setter, and rare breeds such as Catahoula Leopard Dog and Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever. Many of Best Behaved Dogs LLC' clients have come from a wide variety of mixes. The smallest dog Janet has worked with weighed about 2 pounds, and the largest over 170 pounds. She has worked with dogs as young as 5 weeks, and as old as 14 years. Additionally Janet has experience in competitive obedience, agility, weight pulling and rally.

Janet enjoys training her dogs to compete in obedience, agility, rally and weight pulling trials.
She has personally achieved the following titles and awards with her second rescued American Staffordshire Terrier, Ch Nippa-G’s Casanova (Ty):

  • First place in all 3 Novice Preferred agility classes at the 2009 American Stafford Terrier National Specialty
  • Third place in Novice Obedience at the 2009 American Staffordshire Terrier National Specialty
  • Multiple High Combined awards in UKC agility

  • High Scoring American Pit Bull Terrier at the American Pit Bull Terrier Club of New England's 2002 Regional Specialty.
  • High Scoring American Staffordshire Terrier at the Columbia Terrier Association's 2003 and 2004 Terrier Group specialties.

Janet was the editor of “Aggression Newsletter,” a national quarterly publication about dealing with aggressive domestic animals from 1999-2000.

In May 1996 she graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Summa Cum Laude from Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, VA, with B.A.s in International Relations and French Language and Literature, and a B.S. in Business Administration.
