Janet with Pumi and Justice
Janet has worked with over 4000 dogs from more than 125 breeds, including such popular breeds as German Shepherd, Labrador Retriever, and Cocker Spaniel, less well-known breeds such as Bull Mastiff and English Setter, and rare breeds such as Catahoula Leopard Dog and Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever. Many of Best Behaved Dogs' clients have come from a wide variety of mixes. The smallest dog Janet has worked with weighed about 2 pounds, and the largest over 170 pounds. She has worked with dogs as young as 5 weeks, and as old as 14 years. Additionally Janet has experience in competitive obedience, agility, weight pulling and rally.

Janet enjoys training her dogs to compete in obedience, agility, rally and weight pulling trials. She has personally achieved the following competitive titles on her rescued American Staffordshire Terrier, Justice:
High Scoring Dog in an AKC Obedience Trial
UKC’s Agility Champion, Weight Puller and Companion Dog
   Excellent
AKC’s Companion Dog Excellent, Novice Agility Preferred, Novice
   Jumper Preferred, Rally Advanced and Canine Good Citizen
IWPA’s Working Dog, Working Dog Excellent, and Working Dog

ATTS’s Temperament Test
CCC’s Versatile Canine Companion Excellent.
Justice was nationally ranked in Front and Finish newspaper’s various ranking systems from 2000 through 2005. In 2000 he was and the #2 High-in Trial AmStaff and the #3 Novice AmStaff.

Justice was High Scoring American Pit Bull Terrier at the National American Pit Bull Terrier Association's 2002 National Specialty and at the American Pit Bull Terrier Club of New England's 2002 Regional Specialty. Justice was also High Scoring American Staffordshire Terrier at the Columbia Terrier Association's 2003 and 2004 specialties.

Janet has personally achieved the following titles on Edes Pumi, a female Pumi owned by Veronica Slajer and Jack Ferguson:
UKC’s Companion Dog Excellent
UKC’s Agility Champion Excellent
AKC’s Canine Good Citizen.
Janet and Pumi are currently working towards additional UKC and AKC titles. Janet has achieved the following titles on her second rescued AmStaff, Ch Nippa-G’s Casanova (Ty):

Janet was the editor of “Aggression Newsletter,” a national quarterly publication about dealing with aggressive domestic animals from 1999-2000.

In May 1996 she graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Summa Cum Laude from Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, VA, with B.A.s in International Relations and French Language and Literature, and a B.S. in Business Administration.
