I first met Janet when I contacted her about training for my 1 year-old rescued miniature schnauzer, Mitia. Janet’s individual training sessions were ideal; I preferred the one on one focus and being able to ask lots questions.
Janet’s training techniques were so easy to follow and understand, and miraculously Mitia responded.
I was extremely pleased that I chose Janet. I expected the training sessions to be boring and frustrating but Janet made them fun for both Mitia and me.

| Best Behaved Dogs services are individualized to fit the needs of each client, based on an assessment of the dog and the household. These services generally fall into one of the following categories: Puppy “Right Paw Forward” Program, Behavior Consultation, Private Obedience Training, In-Home Day School and Daycare Day School. |
| Puppy "Right Paw Forward" Program |
For puppies younger than 6 months
Learn how to use positive reinforcement to help your puppy adopt good household manners. This program is especially helpful to those who have never had a puppy before.
Topics include:
Housetraining
Crate training
Fun, educational games
Socialization
Jumping
Mouthing
Chewing
Beginner obedience |

For puppies and dogs 6 months and older
Work with your dog to change troublesome behaviors including:
Jumping
Barking
Dominance

| Private Obedience Training |
For puppies and dogs of all ages
In a series of lessons Janet helps you learn to teach your dog to heel (to walk next to you on a loose leash), sit, down, stay and come. All of the commands are taught on leash with an emphasis on distractions so that each dog and owner team learns to perform all exercises around real world distractions such as other dogs, children playing or riding bikes, cats, squirrels, the excitement of a veterinary office or pet store etc. Advanced obedience is also available. |
| In Home Day School |
For puppies and dogs 6 months and older
Janet will come to your home weekdays for three consecutive weeks and teach your dog to respond to the commands of heel (walking next to you on a loose leash), sit, down, stay and come around real world distractions. At the end of the training you receive two handling lessons to show you what your dog knows and how to get him/her to respond to you. |
| Daycare Day School |
For puppies and dogs 6 months and older
This is a two week training course at Dog-ma Daycare for Dogs on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. Janet will go to Dog-ma weekdays for two consecutive weeks and teach your dog to respond to the commands of heel (walking next to you on a loose leash), sit, down, stay and come around the real world distractions in the surrounding neighborhood. At the end of the training you receive two handling lessons to show you what your dog knows and how to get him/her to respond to you. While your dog is not being trained he/she will be busy playing with the other dogs at Dog-ma. In order to participate in this program your dog must successfully complete Dog-ma’s interview process. |
